Dover Alumni Has Strong Presence During DSU's Homecoming Celebration

Updated: Oct 27, 2023

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Dover Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi participated in Delaware State University’s Homecoming Parade and held a tailgate party. The former provided an opportunity for twelve of Dover Alumni’s Kappa Leaguers to participate in a fun community activity while also making their presence felt among the crowd of onlookers.

Homecoming is a special time for historically black colleges and institutions because currently matriculating students have the opportunity to engage with individuals who helped establish the legacy of the institution they are attending. Likewise, former students provide a breathing example of what the institution produces by way of graduates. Together, coupled with the aroma of great food and an environment primed for fellowship, the annual tradition is one that creates lasting memories.

Homecoming at Delaware State University has particular meaning to the Dover Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. because it was during the annual Delaware State College homecoming celebration that the idea of establishing an alumni chapter in Dover, Delaware was put forth. DSU homecoming celebrations have featured a strong Kappa presence dating back to the Fall of ‘1947. Delaware State Kappas under the letters of the Beta Sigma, Xi Mu, Pi Eta, and Dover Alumni chapters all return annually during the celebration. During DSU’s 2023 Homecoming Celebration, the Kappa presence was undeniable. There were Kappas as far as the eyes could see, from the DSU wall to the DSU Greek plots the Nupes had the yard on lock!
