In Memory of John Moss Roberts

Today we mourn the passing of our dear Brother John Moss Roberts, a 2010 initiate of the Dover (DE) Alumni Chapter.  Brother Roberts was a veteran of the US Navy, having been honorably discharged as a Petty Officer 3rd Class in 1972.  Following his military career, Brother Roberts provided an additional 30 years of federal public service in various capacities culminating in retirement from the US Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service in 2017.

Brother Roberts is remembered as a humble, quiet, and caring man; a loving husband, father; and grandfather who was welcoming to all who knew him. Brother Roberts loved traditional and contemporary jazz and combined it with his love of travel. His travels took him to many venues nationwide, attending music festivals and concerts. Brother Roberts was more than an enthusiast, he was also a musician capable of playing the saxophone and keyboard.

Brother Roberts earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, in College Park, MD.  In addition to being a proud member of the Dover (DE) Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. he was also a member of Club Social 25, a social club based in Washington, DC where he was elected to the position of President and Vice President of the Club during his many years of membership.

Ever the consummate professional, Brother Roberts was the epitome of a true Kappa Man - Business-focused when it was time for business, and brotherly at all times. He never hesitated to invite or offer brothers tickets to see his beloved Ravens in action.

Brother Roberts would often say that he always wanted to be a Kappa,  and he always demonstrated what it meant to be a “Good Kappa Man!”
