In Memory of Maurice Pritchett, Sr.

Today we join the Delaware State Alumni family; the Delaware chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.; and multiple generations of former students and educators as we mourn the passing of our dear brother. Bro. Pritchett was a standout student-athlete in Wilmington, DE before furthering his academic and athletic career at Delaware State College (now University). At Delaware State, he played basketball under the legendary coach, and Kappa Alpha Psi member, Bennie George. While attending Delaware State, Bro. Pritchett was initiated into the Beta Sigma chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in ‘66. Bro. Pritchett returned to Wilmington, Delaware where he had a successful career as an educator, including being the principal at Bancroft Elementary/Middle School for 30+ years, where his influence is felt among thousands of children and staff. He is well known for his efforts to provide after-school youth and recreational programs in the community. Large in stature, he had an even bigger heart for children. Bro. Pritchett exemplifies what it is to be a “Kappa Man!”
