Kappa Alpha Psi Day at the State Capitol

Updated: Mar 15

On March 13, 2024, members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. throughout the state of Delaware capped off a week of achievement-recognizing activities with a trip to the Delaware State Capitol in Dover.  On March 8th, 2024 the brothers of the Beta Sigma Chapter and the Wilmington (DE) Alumni Chapter celebrated their 77th charter anniversary, and on March 10th, the Dover (DE) Alumni Chapter celebrated its 68th charter anniversary.  Kappa Alpha Psi Day on the Capitol was a history-making moment in the 77-year history of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.'s presence in the state of Delaware, as the membership was officially recognized by the legislative body for service to Delawareans statewide.

The event featured representatives from chapters throughout the state.  The agenda consisted of a morning fellowship session where members discussed policy priorities pertinent to all Delaware chapters; members spent time posing for a group photo; members held an open discussion with elected officials; received resolutions and acknowledgment from the State House of Representatives and the State Senate; and members had a private session with the sitting Governor, John Carney.

Other highlights from the session included visits from Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long; a working luncheon with Rep. Estelle Parker Selby and Rep Frank Cooke; an address from the House Floor by Tracy Chamblee, Polemarch of the Dover Alumni Chapter; and an address from the Senate Floor by Cliffvon Howell, President of the Dream Keepers Foundation, Inc.; and brothers attended and participated in the House Administration Committee’s debate of HB-189.

A great time was had by all in attendance, and the brother’s presence was felt throughout the day’s activities.
