WILLIAM MONROE HEARNE SCHOLARSHIP
Name and Purpose
In 2009, the Dover Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., initiated a scholarship in honor of William Monroe Hearne, a charter member of the chapter. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist outstanding students from Kent and Sussex Counties in pursuing an undergraduate degree at Delaware State University. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, aptitude, leadership, character, and financial need. The amount of the scholarship is determined by the size of the scholarship fund.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must:

Be a graduate of a high school in Kent or Sussex County, Delaware

Be accepted as a full-time student at Delaware State University.

Submit a letter explaining your goals and why you should be considered for this scholarship.

Submit an official transcript which includes class rank, grade point average (GPA) , and SAT or ACT scores.

Submit two letters of reference from people who can attest to your academic abilities and your character.

All scholarship application materials, if mailed, must be postmarked by April 10th and received on or before April 15th in order to be considered. E-mailed scholarship materials must be sent on or before April 15th.
